The Teleki burial vault
The Teleki burial vault of Glodeni was built by Teleki Domokos at the beginning of the 19th century in classicist and empire style, the shape of the building is similar to that of the Egyptian pyramids, a shape quite frequently met in Transylvania of that period of time. The burial vault was realized through the digging of a cavity in the eastern side of the hill where the “upper manor” was situated, and in front of it they erected a pyramid of limestone. The portico was sustained by two sculptured Doric columns. Several members of the Teleki family of Glodeni were buried in this burial vault: Teleki Mihály, Teleki Eszter, Teleki Lajos, and Teleki Károly. The grave spots were carved in the walls and the rectangular slots above them were probably shaped to house the funeral monuments. The crypt was vandalized several times, the interior is severely deteriorated.
