The Zichy manor house

The building complex of the manor house in Voivodeni is compounded of two separate buildings of different characteristics: a wing with a North-South longitudinal axis with a verandah with semicircular arcades on the facade facing the courtyard and a building having a rectangular floor plan, characterized by a classicizing portico with columns.

The wing of the so-called “long castle” is situated on a steep terrace of the Luț stream, the basement of the building being made in the side of the terrace, its eastern facade having two levels, while the western one only one level.  The building has a ridged roof truss with splayed gable, covered with tiles.

The main building of the manor house was probably built upon the orders of Iktari Bethlen Katalin in the 80’s of the 18th century. It has a central corpus with a rectangular floor plan, covered by a ridged roof truss. To each of the two sides a smaller building portion is attached. The main facade has 7 axes, the main entrance of the building being situated in the middle one, accentuated by a classicizing portico, sustained by 8 Corinthian columns of carved stone. Both to the eastern and western facades a smaller corpus of building is attached.
